Simple Holiday Sugar Cookies

If you’re going to own awe-inspiringly gorgeous dinnerware, it’s only proper that you make something spectacular to put on your new plates. That’s why we’re going to share one of our favorite sugar cookie recipes, just in time for the holidays. You won’t need any weird ingredients (cream cheese, anyone?), and they’re incredibly cheap to make.

Simple Holiday Sugar Cookies:

5 1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsps baking soda
2 cups of butter, slightly softened
3 cups of granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsps vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In one bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and baking soda.

2. In a larger bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, then beat in the vanilla and eggs. Once mixed, blend in the dry ingredients.

3. Chill your dough for 5-10 minutes and prepare a floured surface for rolling out your cookies. If you prefer not to use cookie cutters, simply form the dough into small balls and bake.

4. Bake 5 to 6 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Bake 2-3 minutes longer if the dough is in balls instead of flat. Let the cookies stand on the cookie sheet for two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

Once you’re done, frost your cookies with your favorite royal icing or pre-packaged frosting. If you prefer, you can garnish with candies as shown above.
